Field Niggas, next to the controversial title, is a visually stunning and conceptually innovative movie. The images are not synchronized with the audio, which helped with creating this visual symphony. Everything is shot in slow motion. It’s like a hallucinogenic version of Humans of New York. Khalik Allah, the film director managed to get very close and document this presumably elusive tissue of society. The junction of 125th Street and Lexington in East Harlem is known to be the most loaded crossroads in NYC. Homeless people are getting hooked on a new drug, K2 which is synthetic marijuana, undetectable in the system. It’s a nighttime tale of life and redemption. Mr. Allah manages to keep the no judgment approach throughout the film which truly deserves an attention.
